30-ACRE ASH POND CLOSURE
PROJECT SCOPE
CBP Environmental was contracted to complete the final closure construction of this 30-acre ash impoundment. This project is currently in progress and includes ash excavation, relocation and compacting it to the smallest practical volume. CBP has maintained stable subsurface conditions during the ash excavation by having a properly designed and managed dewatering system.
To complete this closure, CBP is responsible for surveying and installing all required erosion control items, construction of access roads, and controlling all exposed surfaces to minimize dust. In addition, CBP is dewatering the ash to facilitate excavation and relocation of the material to a designated area onsite, manages and treats pore water, operates the dewatering system, and is constructing ponds to manage stormwater runoff and to store pore water. CBP is also installing and compacting the structural fill, installing the closure turf material to cap the consolidated ash material and is responsible for total site restoration.
