OUR LONG-STANDING HISTORY
Prior to the start of CBP Environmental, CEO Ronald Cooper’s father, Lewis Cooper, had a long-standing history in welding, grading, and waste disposal which started with the founding of Speedway Welding and Grading in 1969. Ronnie watched Lewis build this business from a young age and along the way he developed a passion for bulldozers and heavy equipment. As soon as Ronnie was old enough, he started honing his skills as a heavy equipment operator on job sites and ultimately became an influential businessman in the local construction industry.
In 1973, Lewis and Ronnie formed a construction partnership where they focused on various projects ranging from railroad construction to the constructing of reservoir dams. Their featured project during this time was at Dobbins Air Force Base located in Marietta, GA. For this project, they were responsible for constructing and extending the overruns. The matriarch of the family, Jean Cooper, kept the business office organized and running efficiently so that Lewis and Ronnie could pursue new projects and keep the business growing.
Lewis and Ronnie’s next challenge was the formation of Speedway Corporation where they acquired a 200+ acre industrial site that was transitioned into a solid-waste landfill known as Speedway Waste Disposal. This landfill was built into a successful business that ran over 100+ pieces of equipment and would come to serve 40,000 customers across Metro Atlanta and the surrounding areas.
Speedway Corporation was acquired by Mid-American Waste Disposal in 1991, allowing Lewis, Ronnie, Bruce Page (Lewis’ Son-in-law and Fleet Manager at Speedway Corp.), and Larry Barnette (Accountant at Speedway Corp.) to form a new company called Cooper Barnette Page, Inc. With the sale of Speedway Corporation, all those involved were able to place their undivided attention on the growth of CBP.
In the years that followed, CBP continued to evolve in the environmental construction sector prompting a name change to CBP Environmental. Since then we have grown from a small family-owned, faith-based, general contracting company into a nearly 200+ employee strong company specializing in some of the Southeast’s largest heavy civil construction and power generation projects.
Our long-standing history has helped shape our success and has allowed us to serve an impressive roster of clients. From day one, CBP Environmental has been committed to taking our client’s projects in
THE RIGHT DIRECTION.
